Stephen has a degree & PhD in Chemistry from Dublin City University & University College Dublin, before post doc studies in Berlin where he was an Alexander von Humboldt fellow. He was appointed as a lecturer at Trinity College Dublin in 2003, where he is currently Chair of Synthetic Chemistry and Head of the Organic, Medicinal and Biological Chemistry Discipline. He has authored over 90 publications, is an ERC starting grant recipient and currently holds a Science Foundation Ireland Investigator award.
